Layering Season is Here
A Tejicana is a proud Texan, with Mexican roots.
My name is Gloria E. Singleterry and I am Tejicana. I am from the Rio Grande Valley, Pharr, TX to be exact and a DFW transplant. I am a proud Texan with Mexican roots, above all, I'm an American - a Tejicana! I embrace who I am, as it's become a culture on it's own.
I remember hearing the word "Texican" years ago and I envisioned how that logo would look printed on shirts. I didn't realize I could be the person to print it, so I waited around for someone else to take action - big mistake! In my profession as an insurance agent, I would travel the country and would give large group presentations to other Spanish speaking nationalities. I would often introduce myself as a Tejicana because they were trying to figure out where I was from and why I spoke Spanish so well. I knew one day, I would brand Tejicana, when God gave me the "go ahead", I would take action. Well, God said go ahead.
I'm introducing Tejicana to the world so they can see our beautiful, unique culture. I pray I make us proud. God has given me several green lights and I am obeying His commands because I know He has great plans for me (Jeremiah 29:11).
As one of the most notarized Tejicana's would say, me siento muy excited!!!
Con mucho amor y carino,
Gloria E. Singleterry
